IP WAN Planning and Optimization Engineer

Mission
·       To design and implement specifications for all products and protocols within the IP WAN network to ensure seamless Internet access for mobile users.

·       To ensure compliance with IP WAN network standards, policies, and procedures.

·       To support the development, optimization, and maintenance of the IP WAN network to enhance performance and reliability.
Roles & Responsibilities
·       To design and configure the WAN network to ensure optimal performance and security.

·       To design routing architectures using protocols such as BGP, OSPF, IS-IS, IPv6, and MPLS, and define configurations for IPSec/GRE tunnels, ACLs, and NAT to ensure secure communication.

·       To ensure redundancy, failover mechanisms, and traffic engineering to maintain high availability; while analyzing network traffic patterns and optimizing performance.

·       To monitor and maintain the WAN infrastructure to maximize uptime and reliability.

·        To stay updated about routing issues, latency problems, and connectivity failures, ensuring alignment with the operations team for effective resolution.

·       To implement and maintain firewall policies, VPNs, and security best practices.

·       To ensure compliance with network security policies and regulatory standards.

·       To utilize tools like Python, or Bash scripting for network automation and monitoring, along with SD-WAN solutions to enhance network flexibility and cost efficiency.

·       To collaborate with facility, core, and IP teams to deploy and maintain network services.

·       To coordinate with vendors, ISPs, and subcontractors for new device installations and upgrades.

·       To maintain and update network documentation, diagrams, and change management records.

·       To keep the network monitoring tools updated, prepare utilization reports, and monitor network capacity.

·       Participate in RFP/RFQ creation and vendor evaluations to ensure the selection of reliable, high-quality equipment.

Job Requirements
Education
·        BSc degree in Telecommunication Engineering / Information Technology / Computer Engineering or related

·       Fluent in English
 

Experience
·       Minimum of 3 years’ experience in an area of specialization; with experience in supervising others.

·       Experience working in a medium organization.

·       Experience in Segment Routing (SR) and SRv6 is considered an advantage.

·       Experience with Python, Ansible, or Bash scripting for network automation and monitoring, along with expertise in SD-WAN solutions to enhance network flexibility and cost efficiency, is considered an advantage.
