Job Description

Mission:

  • To manage and monitor the process of recording the Fixed Assets of the company properly and ensure they are accounted for by using an integrated financial approach
  • To oversee improvement and management of the accounting of Fixed Assets and ensure the best utilization of the Fixed Asset ERP system and Fixed Assets Register.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • To develop, improve, and maintain MTNIrancell’s fixed asset management policies, processes, and procedures yearly based on standard structure to ensure compliance with GAAP requirements and MTN accounting policies
  • To manage cross-functional relationships for asset insurance, asset disposal, return of used assets to warehous process, tagging process, periodic asset verification, etc.
  • To participate in and support the development of a short-term plan for the Fixed Asset function in MTNIrancell
  • To compare all inbounded/rebounded items to the warehouses with related documents such as shipments, BOQ,EiW and etc. and reconcile probable discrepancies.
  • To control all outbound items from the warehouse to make sure they match capitalization and provide related reports to clarify probable differences.
  • To take a cross-functional approach to implementation, proper accounting and ROU reporting are subject to IFRS16.
  • To develop and maintain an effective fixed asset register to ensure maintenance of appropriate fixed assets records to support financial reporting and regulatory requirements
  • To develop and maintain effective process to track all fixed assets
  • To collaborate with related teams for all fixed asset audits and ensure unique tagging of all MTNIrancell fixed assets
  • To manage the implementation of all fixed asset systems including independent systems in other division or contractor warehouses
  • To maintain a budget tracking/Fixed assets commitment tracking system that detects the variances between planned and actual fixed asset expenditure for the various divisions and provide feedback to related teams on reasons.
  • To manage extensive negotiations with other divisions to ensure they meet finance requirements related to fixed asset
  • To manage and control depreciation and amortization calculation for booking necessary vouchers and preparing related reports.
  • To ensure all related CAPEX purchases are within the approved budget, board approval and delegations of authority
  • To control and approve disposal motivations as per related policies
  • To ensure risk identification and management, setting standard financial controls and audits regarding fixed Assets
  • To manage and control accounting processes related to spare parts
  • To provide fixed asset full reports to prepare financial statements
  • To provide all reports requested by External and internal auditors to ensure that reports are prepared following financial standards
  • To liaise with and reconcile Fixed Asset Additions with respective user departments
  • To track Fixed Asset additions against approvals and manage to provide related reports
  • To prepare and present ad hoc reports on fixed assets and related issues.
  • To reconcile fixed asset with related Project accounting and supporting systems.

Education:

  • B.Sc in Financial Management / Accounting or related Disciplines
  • A professional accounting qualification is desirable.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in an area of specialization with experience in supervising/ managing others;
  • 5 years or more experience in accounting in the telecommunications.
  • Worked across diverse cultures and geographies advantageous
  • Experience working in a medium to large organization
